In Building Two-Way Radio Enhancement Systems (DAS)

Design, Installation Requirements

It is the intent of this information to provide information and guidance to qualified Engineers, Installers, and Third-Party evaluation/testing entities of In-Building Two-Way Radio Enhancement Systems (DAS) as to requirements within the North Collier Fire Rescue District.

North Collier Fire Rescue District enforces Florida Statute 633 as provided by 633.118, which includes 633.202(18) and the Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC) as adopted by 633.208. Florida Statute 633.202(18) and the FFPC, NFPA 1-11.10 require New and Existing buildings to comply with minimum radio signal strength. DAS installations are required to conform to applicable Statutes, Rules, Codes and Federal Regulations such as but not limited to:

  • Florida Fire Prevention Code – NFPA 1 and 101 (Florida Specific)
  • NFPA 72 –  (as adopted by 69A – 3.012)
  • NFPA 1221 –  (as adopted by 69A – 3.012)
  • NFPA 70 – (as adopted by 69A – 3.012)
  • Florida Statute 61G15-33.005 Design of Communication Systems
  • UL 2524 Standard for In-building 2-Way Emergency Radio Communication Enhancement Systems
  • FCC Registration of DAS installation by ownership
