North Collier Fire Rescue District
North Collier Fire Control & Rescue District, established January 1, 2015.
The family of Donna Fiala is deeply moved by the incredible outpouring of love and support received since her passing. Donna dedicated decades of her life to serving this community, and seeing how much she meant to all of you brings us immense comfort.
Because Donna was so beloved, we know that many wish to attend Tuesday’s services at Lely Presbyterian Church. However, due to the limited capacity of her home church, we respectfully request that the in-person attendance at the funeral service be reserved for the family and close friends.
Lely Presbyterian will provide a live stream of Tuesday’s services, which you may access online at bit.ly/4mPHKZc . Please note that the link may not be active until just before the services begin.
In addition, this live stream will be broadcast at both Donna Fiala Eagle Lakes Park Community Center and at the North Collier Regional Park Exhibit Hall, should you wish to gather with others to remember Donna and her infectiously positive spirit.
Collier County is also planning a community-wide celebration of her life to be held at a later date, where all will be welcome to gather and celebrate Donna’s extraordinary life and public service. Details will be shared as soon as they are finalized.
We thank you for your understanding and for holding Donna and her family in your hearts.

Yesterday afternoon (4-25-2026), your North Collier Firefighters responded to a call for smoke coming from the balcony of a second-floor apartment.
When the crews arrived on scene, they found no visible flames, but they did find a large cooking appliance connected to both electric power and a propane tank, positioned less than 6 inches from the wall.
While there were no visible flames, heat had already penetrated the wall, causing burned wood and insulation, smoldering materials, and hidden fire conditions that could have easily spread. Thankfully, everything was contained prior to any extension into the building.
While this setup may not seem dangerous, IT IS!
If it produces heat, it can start a fire.
KNOW YOUR COMMUNITY RULES - Many apartment and condominium communities have their own restrictions on:
• Grills (gas and electric)
• Propane tanks
• Cooking equipment on balconies
These rules are often strict to prevent situations exactly like this. Always check your lease or HOA guidelines before using any cooking equipment because safety is Rule #1.
Your North Collier Firefighters want everyone to Stay Safe, and we remind you to:
• Keep all cooking equipment well away from walls and anything that can burn
• Never use outdoor cooking appliances in enclosed or tight spaces
• Avoid mixing fuel sources.
• Never leave cooking unattended—inside or outside.

FRAUD WARNING! CCSO wants everyone to be aware of a nationwide scam targeting senior citizens. Fraudsters tell victims they are in debt or their bank accounts are compromised. These scammers say you must pay in gold or large sums of cash, then send a courier to meet up to retrieve the money. In some cases they want you to withdraw cash, convert it to gold and then invest it in the Federal Reserve.
If anyone asks you for money, hang up and look up the organization’s actual phone number and call it to confirm. Never provide your banking or credit card information without independently verifying who’s asking for it and why.
For assistance with any suspected fraud, contact the Collier County Sheriff’s Office’s Call Before You Pay hotline – 239-252-CALL (2255). The hotline is staffed by a CCSO deputy in the Financial Crimes Bureau between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Outside of those hours you can call our non-emergency number at 239-252-9300.
