All-Hazards Emergency Response

North Collier Fire Rescue is an all-hazards public safety agency, providing comprehensive emergency response services to a diverse and dynamic community. The District responds to more than 25,000 calls annually, approximately 70% of which involve emergency medical care, while the remaining responses require a wide range of fire, rescue, and specialized operational capabilities. These all-hazards services include:

  • Fire suppression for structures, vehicles and wildland incidents;
  • Emergency medical services, including basic life support (BLS), advanced life support (ALS), and ambulance transport;
  • Motor vehicle crashes;
  • Technical rescue, including confined space, structural collapse, high angle, and trench rescue;
  • Hazardous materials CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense);
  • Dive, beach and marine rescue;
  • Lifeguard services at Collier County aquatic centers;
  • Natural gas and propane leaks and explosions;
  • Active threat and active shooter incidents; 
  • Emergency management operations and disaster response; and
  • Urban Search and Rescue (USAR).

Our History

The North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District was established on January 1, 2015, through the merger of two independent special fire districts: the North Naples Fire Control and Rescue District and the Big Corkscrew Island Fire Control and Rescue District.

North Naples was founded in 1961, and Big Corkscrew Island Fire began service in 1977. Together, these organizations reflect a long-standing legacy of continuous emergency service to the North Naples community. 

Our Team

The District employees more than 300 professionals, including:

  • Fire Commissioners;
  • Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics;
  • Building Inspectors;
  • Fire Code Plan Examiners;
  • Fleet and Facilities Technicians; and
  • Administrative Staff (sworn and civilian).

These personnel support and manage District operations across emergency response, EMS and patient transport, finance, human resources, information technology, essential services, training and community education and outreach. 

Special Independent District

North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District is a special independent district governed by Chapter 189, Florida Statutes and the Uniform Special District Accountability Act of 1989. The District is not part of Collier County government.

Special districts function similarly to counties or municipalities, but are created to provide a specific governmental service rather than a broad range of services. Their authority is limited to what is expressly granted in their charter and applicable state law.  There are more than 1,900 independent and dependent special districts throughout the State of Florida.

Our Enabling Act

Creation of District by Florida State Law

Pursuant to section 189.074, Florida Statutes, the North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District was created on January 1, 2015, following the voluntary merger of the North Naples Fire Control and Rescue District and the Big Corkscrew Island Fire Control and Rescue District. 

The merger was approved at referendum by the electors in both districts on November 4, 2014. Chapter 2015-191, Laws of Florida, serves as the District’s unified charter.
