Deputy Chief Kris Thomas serves as Deputy Chief for the North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District, overseeing the District’s Life Safety and Essential Services divisions. In this role, he provides leadership and operational oversight for functions critical to emergency readiness, regulatory compliance, and continuity of services that support both emergency response and daily District operations.
The Life Safety Division focuses on fire prevention, inspections, and risk reduction efforts that protect lives and property, while the Essential Services Division supports the infrastructure, logistics, and operational systems necessary for effective emergency response. Through these divisions, Chief Thomas helps ensure that District personnel are equipped, facilities are maintained, and life safety standards are consistently upheld throughout the community.
Chief Thomas brings a management approach that emphasizes attention to detail, forward planning, and team development, supporting efficient operations and long-term organizational readiness.
Born and raised in Miami, Chief Thomas joined the District in 1999 as a Firefighter. His dedication and commitment to the organization led to progressive advancement through the ranks to his current executive leadership role.
Chief Thomas holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Science.
