Apparatus

Aerials

An aerial truck is designed to provide vertical access, rescue capability, and elevated firefighting operations at emergencies—especially in multi-story buildings and complex structures.  Aerial trucks include both tower and ladder trucks. The key difference is that tower trucks are equipped with a bucket or platform, while ladder trucks use a straight aerial ladder without a bucket.

Engines

A fire engine is the primary firefighting vehicle designed to deliver water, deploy hoses and perform initial fire suppression at emergency incidents. Unlike ladder trucks, fire engines focus on ground-level firefighting and water supply operations.

Water Tenders

A water tender (also known as a tanker) is a fire apparatus designed to transport large volumes of water to emergency scenes where a reliable water supply is limited or unavailable. Water tenders play a critical role in rural and wildland firefighting operations, as well as during extended incidents that require sustained water delivery.

Attack Trucks

An attack truck is a nimble fire apparatus designed for rapid response and initial fire suppression. Its maneuverability and onboard firefighting equipment allow it to quickly access incidents and begin fire control until additional resources arrive.

Brush Trucks

A brush truck is a specialized fire apparatus designed for wildland and brush fire suppression. Built for off-road and remote access, it is equipped with a water tank, pump, hose, and firefighting tools, allowing firefighters to quickly respond to vegetation fires and operate in areas inaccessible to larger apparatus.

Squads

A squad vehicle is a multipurpose fire department unit used for medical response, incident support, and utility functions. It is typically equipped with medical equipment, basic firefighting tools, and support gear, allowing crews to assist with patient care, scene safety, and operational support during emergencies.

Medic Rescue Units

The Medic Rescue is an advanced life support (ALS) ambulance operated by firefighter-paramedics and EMTs. It responds to medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, and other life-threatening incidents, providing immediate care and transporting patients to hospitals when needed.

Beach Patrol Units

North Collier Fire Rescue’s Beach Patrol utilizes specialized apparatus designed to operate in sand and water environments, including jet skis, four-wheel-drive utility vehicles, and motorized paddle boards, to support emergency response and rescue operations along the District’s coastal areas.

Boats

North Collier Fire Rescue operates marine rescue boats to support emergency response on area waterways. Boat 41 is a heavy-duty vessel specifically designed for fire-rescue operations and is equipped with a forward-mounted spray nozzle to assist with marine fire suppression, water rescues, and medical response. These resources allow crews to safely and effectively assist boaters and individuals in distress.

Special Response Units

Special Response Units are equipped to support complex and high-risk incidents that require specialized tools, equipment, and capabilities beyond standard fire apparatus. These units enhance the District’s ability to respond effectively to technical rescue, hazardous materials, high water rescue and other specialized emergencies.
